BPS #007: Mindset To Successfully Heal Your Back Pain …

What’s up guys. This is Robin Wakeham and welcome to the Back Pain Secrets podcast. Today we’re going to talk about the mindset you have to have to successfully heal your back pain…

Hey guys! Okay, let me start off by saying if you don’t have the mindset that it takes to be successful for healing your back pain, you will not be successful. The mind is your most powerful tool. So there are some really important things that I have learned from healing my own back pain and from helping my clients do the same over the past 20 years. Today I’ll share with you the things that didn’t work, the things that did, and the mindset it took for me and my clients to continue our hard work, which eventually created pain free, strong and healthy backs.

The first thing you must understand in healing your back pain is that it is not instant. It is not something that you start today and it’s magically fixed tomorrow. I wish I had a magic pill or secret technique for cracking your back in a certain way to fix your pain right away but it takes hard work and dedication to make that happen. I need you guys to be disciplined – to have the focus and discipline required to create daily habits that are going to get you to heal your back pain. Successful habits are the key to your success. So let’s say you work a busy schedule and you have an office job between 09:00 am and 06:00 pm. You need to create a schedule of successful habits built around that.

For example, wake up every morning with enough time to go for a 30 minute walk or do other exercise, before you do anything else. Get the first habit out of the way first thing in the morning. Then, while you’re at work you might need to stand up and work at your desk for 20 minutes of every hour during office hours. These types of simple habits will grow your strength, leading to less pain in the long term. When you’re home at night, do lumbar and core strength and stability exercises for 3 minutes before bed every day. Set your goals to last for a certain amount of time, like six weeks.

The second thing is – and this is probably one of the biggest mistakes the majority of my back pain clients make – you need to incorporate these habits into your daily life. Most people think they need to find the best back pain expert and use the best equipment in the world. They think they need to read everything about back pain so they more or less become back pain experts themselves in order to heal. This is wrongful thinking and simply not true.In fact there are only a few basic back pain principals that will heal your back and help you live pain free. The golden nugget here is to work these easy key principles into your daily life. That’s it. No more and no less than that. So that is what I want you to think about. It is not about getting the experts, trainers, or equipment. It is about turning easy, key back pain principals into habits that you do every single day.

The third thing you need to understand is the speed of implementation. This is one of the things that I think separates the successful people from the ones who fail. Speed of implementation refers to when you learn something and how quickly you go ahead and implement that. So when you are learning from me about a certain method, tactic, or strategy – make sure to go ahead and take action right after. The sooner the time is between learning and taking action, the more successful you are going to be. The longer the time that you spend delaying, the more likely you will not be successful. For example if you say to yourself, “I will do that next week. I will do that next month.” You are more likely to keep putting it off and never do it at all! Successful people learn something and then they implement it right away.

The fourth thing is to understand that perfection is not the goal – progress is. Perfection kills productivity. Just think, if you are trying to get the perfect back pain specialist, perfect standing table for your office, perfect pair of walking shoes – whatever it is. Guess what? You are never going to start taking action. Don’t use the lack of a perfect situation as your excuse. It is about working hard and getting into action right away with what you have already guys. So learning to let go of controlling a situation is really, really important because nothing is ever perfect.

What I want you guys to do in the next few weeks as you listen to this podcast is to think about everything as creating successful habits. Tying your shoes and brushing your teeth are things you may not need to think about. You just do it because it’s a habit. Maybe flossing your teeth on the other hand is not something that you do regularly so you have to think about it. When you make things into habits, it makes it very easy to stick to the plan. And that is what I want you to do if you want to live without back pain. I want you to set up habits for success. Like now, take out your calendar and write down right now when you are going to learn from me each week.

Make it closer to the beginning of the day for you to listen the content I am going to show you so you have time to actually take action. Don’t give yourself time to “wait until tomorrow.” If you dedicate a certain time and you make it a habit, it is going to be really, really easy to continue it.

The fifth thing is you need to learn from successful people. That is why you are here and that is an important step toward building the right mindset – which is key to your success. Learn from those that have already accomplished what you want and then kind of emulate their success. Copy what has worked for others before you and you’ll go from zero to hero in the fastest way possible. Now going even a step further is to surround yourself with people that lift you up. Or at least not with people that bring you down. Positive energy breeds more positive energy. And when you’re trying to heal, that is so important.

Committing to healing your back pain in the long term may be a lifestyle change – meaning some people around you may not be excited about all the changes. When friends and family notice that your standards have risen and your habits have changed, it is not uncommon that they will try to talk you out of it. They might say something like, “Come on you don’t need to take a 30 minute walk today, you walked yesterday. Let´s go to the movies instead.” This does not mean that they are bad people. They do this because they do not understand what it requires from you to live pain free or they are afraid to get left behind. Do not become discouraged and remain focused on your goal. So when you are around people that have been successful or people that are striving to do the same thing that you are doing, you are going to feel uplifted. Your standards get higher, you are going to have more hope, more motivation, and more belief – and when you have that belief, you are going to take more action and get more results.

That’s about it for today. I just wanted to mention all of that stuff. That’s what’s going on in my life and at the top of my mind right now. I’m going to take of to my gym now, so I’m going to go. I appreciate you guys. If you enjoyed this podcast at all, please comment on it. I think I need a couple of more comments, and then I can actually get some stars showing on this thing which would be exciting. All right, talk to ya soon guys. , and guys remember you´re just one step away from healing your Back Pain…
